We are a Bible-centered church home that invites people to grow together as a family of believers. Founded in 1894, today Brookdale Christian Church is a nondenominational church with a focus on helping every member of your family discover and know God.

Whether you are a lifelong Christian, someone newly seeking to encounter God, or somewhere in between, our goal is to make you feel at home at Brookdale Christian Church and support you with biblical answers as you take your next step of faith. The members of our congregation represent a range of church backgrounds, cultural identities, ages, and life stages. We are proud of the diverse group of believers who call us their church home, here to love one another, serve the Brookdale community, and grow in God together.

Our beliefs are summarized in our Statement of Faith.

Statement of faith

  • We profess and trust in one eternal God in three persons: The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit (Deut. 6:4, Mk. 12:29).

  • We profess and trust in the living God, our father, who in love and freedom created the heavens and the earth and all creatures (Gen. 1:1,1 Cor. 8:6).

  • We profess and trust in God’s grace manifest in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, born of the virgin Mary, wholly God and wholly human, who died on the cross for human sin, was raised from the dead, ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and is the only and the sufficient Mediator between God and humanity (John 1:16-17, Is. 7:14, Col. 2:13-15, Rom. 4:25, Lk. 24:51, Col 3:1, Acts 10:38-42, 1 Tim. 2:5).

  • We profess and trust in the Holy Spirit, whose continuous activity in the world reveals the saving power of God in Christ, indwells the spirit of the believer, transforms the hearts of the fallen in their regeneration and the hearts of the saved in their transformation and sanctification, and guides and moves the world in its journey towards God’s fulfillment of the divine plan (John 14:16-18, John 16:7-14, Rom. 8:9-11, 2 Cor. 3:17-18).

  • We profess and trust that humanity was created by God as eternal in being and in the image of God but that with the Fall sin and death entered into God’s creation and into human nature (Gen. 1:26-27, Gen. 3:1-7, Rom. 3:9-10, Rom. 5:12-14).

  • We profess and trust that solely by the grace, love and mercy of our sovereign Father God in the atoning death of Jesus Christ as Lord are “born again” as new creations in Christ, becoming children of God who are sealed by the Holy Spirit and therefore declared by God to be righteous and saints (Jn. 1:12-13, Jn. 3:3, 5-7, Rom. 10:4-10, Eph. 1:13-14).

  • We profess and trust in Jesus Christ as the Word of God incarnate, through whom everything that is in existence was made and through whose life, death on the cross, and resurrection God fashions a new creation; and we profess and trust that personal justification, forgiveness of sin, and salvation are received by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone (John 1:1-14, Col. 1:15-17, Eph. 2:8-10, Gal. 2:20-21).

  • We profess and trust that eternal salvation is the free gift of God, entirely apart from human works, that is received by any and all who have faith in and receive Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, and that such faith privileges all saved sinners to be a priesthood of all believers and to rejoice in the assurance of their justification before God and in their eternal security in Christ through the testimony of the Bible and the inner witness of the Holy Spirit (Rom. 6:23, Jn. 6:37-38, Jn. 10:27-29, 1 Jn. 5:6-12, 1 Pet. 2:9-10).

  • We profess and trust that in the Bible, composed of the canonical written Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, is inspired by the Holy Spirit speaking through its authors, proclaiming God’s self - revelation in judgement and mercy in through word and deed, beginning with the Word in creation, continuing in the history of Israel, and centering in all its fullness in the person, message, and work of Jesus Christ, and that it is the authoritative source and norm of this congregation’s proclamation of faith, and life (Matt. 4:4, Heb. 1:1-2. Pet. 1:19-21, 2 Tim. 3:16-17, John 17:17, Psalm 119:160).

  • We profess and trust that all believers are led by the Spirit of God, who indwells their spirits, into a life of love and continual divine transformation and sanctification that manifests the fruits that come from working out one’s salvation in community and in love for others as a saved follower of Christ and a witness to the truths and Good News of sacred Scripture (Rom. 8-14, Phil. 1:6, Phil. 2:12-13,Gal. 5:22-26)

  • We profess and trust that all believers, as new creations in Christ and children of God, are called by God and empowered by the Holy Spirit indwelling their spirits to engage with all others in love as missionaries of the Gospel and as true witnesses to the reality of God in their lives, to the spiritual gifts from God that enable them to serve the purposes of God’s Kingdom and mission in this world, and to the truth of the Gospel (Mk. 16-15, Acts 1:8, Rom. 1:16-17, 1 Cor. 12:1-13, Rom. 12:1-21, 1 Cor. 13:13).
