Music at Brookdale

A RICH TRADITION

Brookdale Christian Church is proud to have a deep history of musical talents, offering a diversity of worship experiences throughout the year. We offer a blend of contemporary worship songs as well as traditional hymns accompanied by organ. Brookdale Christian Church is unique to be an evangelical church with both a modern worship team and organ.

VINTAGE ORGAN IS “A MUSICIAN’S DREAM”

Front and center in our sanctuary worship space is our vintage Schantz pipe organ. Prized by musicians for being tonally rich, this rare organ is able to produce the sounds of many other orchestra instruments. A church organist extolled, “Brookdale’s organ is a musician’s dream.” First built by the Schantz Organ Company in 1925, it was rebuilt and enlarged upon moving into the new sanctuary in 1989. With four “manuals” (keyboards), 59 “stops” (sets of sounds) and 2,320 pipes—which stretch in size from the deep 16-foot bass “Open Wood Diapason” to the “Flautino,” the size of a pencil—it is much larger than organs in most churches.

EMBRACing CLASSICAL & CONTEMPORARY

The organ is just one of the many stars of our worship team. Sunday worship features a mix of traditional choral hymns alongside contemporary worship songs. With a blend of old and new, timeless music not only evokes childhood memories for long-term church goers, but also introduces all ages to the beauty of both hymns and the organ, while worship modes introduced by contemporary artists bring in new energy to our worshippers.
